Franz Ferdinand Amp Screens 2009
The concept behind this project was to
provide a screen to the existing ‘real’ backline, hiding them
behind amps and cabs that were completely over size.
Additionally
the units would need to be structural so the guys could jump all
over them, fold flat, so they could be transported and realistic
so that they looked like a regular backline.
The
project involved conjuring up images of vintage amps to get
exactly the look that the Band wanted – even developing an
altered font for the Franz Ferdinand logos used on the amps.
It was
great working with a band so involved with their own identity
who knew exactly what they wanted.
The
end result? A very ‘cool’ looking backline that looked totally
plausible and probably confused many pros. Even the vintage
looking VU meters on the amp fascia worked courtesy a miniature
mic and pre-amp!
